Smaller but mighty

I live in a condo complex so mounting a18-24 foot antenna on my balcony was a no go.
Then I discovered this 12 foot Patriot.. I mount it flush against my metal railing which acts as my ground and subsequently have a low SWR across the band of 1.2--1.3.
I'm probably 15 feet of the ground on 2nd level and although the top rises above my roofline and is noticeable--it's not unsightly in fact looks bad ass. Good as I can get for now. Would recommend it yes.

Don't be Fooled

Usualy the higher you mount an antenna the better your range and reception is but not with THIS antenna. The web site does not tell you this but the spec. sheet that comes with the antenna says that it is pre-tuned and designed to be mounted no more than about 8 or 10 feet off the ground and anything above that will require you to start cutting the top tip off the antenna to get a decent SWR. My antenna is on a 12 ft pole and I ended up cutting over a foot off the mast and running the tuning rings all the way up to get an SWR of 1.0 and 1.38. Being mounted low to the ground severely limits your range and RCR does not recommend using a ground plane set-up with this antenna. If you want height and better range,....buy something else or I can sell you mine, LOL..

Absolutely awesome!

Pat and Eva worked with me on an antenna setup that I wanted to use, which didn't work out so well. After multiple attempts to dial in my set up Pat and Eva got me to try this antenna and it was dialed in right out of the box. I'm getting 1.2 on channel 1 and 1.4 on channel 40. I couldn't be happier. I'm going to have to buy a second antenna so I can run two cb radios out of my shed. Thanks for all of your help Pat and Eva!!!
