If you’ve got a “Big Mama” on your vehicle (that’s trucker slang for a big antenna and, coincidentally, our nickname for Mike's girlfriend), then you know how important it is to keep it protected under any circumstance. The Heavy-Duty CB Antenna Spring will keep the base of your antenna flexible, with just enough give so the road doesn’t take. Ideal for antennas 4’ tall, the stainless spring is rust- and weather-resistant. We recommend a super heavy-duty spring for antennas over 4’ tall, a.k.a the real “Big Mamas”.

Every antenna should have a spring to protect the antenna, mount and vehicle. These springs are made from long-lasting, top-grade electro-polished stainless steel. The upper and lower inserts are made of chrome-plated machined brass and have standard 3/8" x 24 threads to fit all standard 3/8" antennas, mounts and accessories. The heavy-duty model may be used with antennas up to 48". Each spring is about 3" (76mm) tall with a diameter of 0.800" (20mm).
This spring was too weak to handle the 3’ Firestik FS. To be fair, it’s mounted on my front driver’s side cowl of my Jeep JK. If it were mounted on the rear tire carrier it wouldn’t be subjected to as much wind and may be fine.
Thanks for the review Jason. Did you mean for this to be a 1-star? We have heavier duty springs if you'd like ot return the spring you have now and get something that won't allow the antenna to flex as easily.
I installed it shortly after receiving it. No complaints, it works really well.

I have no complaints about the HD spring , but I see now that you offer an Xtra - heavy duty model which I’m thinking of ordering so i can compare, as I need an extra one for another rig anyway. I haven’t had a chance to do much highway driving since installing it .
