How to Troubleshoot the Stud Washer

A common mistake that can result in off-the-charts SWR readings is to install the insulating stud washer in the wrong place, effectively grounding out your CB antenna. The washer MUST be installed so that it insulates the antenna and stud from the mounting surface.

Standard Stud Installation:

Ensure the plastic washer (labeled "shoulder washer") is installed between the top stud portion and the mounting surface, as shown below:

Fire-Ring Installation:

Step 1: One side of the Fire-Ring O-Ring has a slightly raised plastic collar. Make sure this collar is facing UP when installed.

Step 2: Ensure that the plastic washer is installed between the top stud portion and the mounting surface, as shown below:
