The FCC has indicated that YOU MUST Have a License to Operate a GMRS Radio as an Owner of the Radio. You are Required to Indicate your License Number each time you make a call on the Radio, and each 15 minute Increment afterwards. Not Having a License is a Violation of those FEDERAL RULES which can cost you money each time you do this. So Please disregard where this ad says you do not need a license. CB, and FRN radios do not require a license. They are the only radios that do not require a license...
Great radio, installation went as planned, very clear transmission, good volume. Quality product!
Superior to CB. Handheld GMRS radio with “rubber ducky” antenna (inside the house) picked up transmissions from this radio at 10 miles away in heavily wooded / hilly area. I am able to hit a repeater in Milwaukee, WI from MI. I am using a Laird 1/2 wave NGP UHF antenna. Great radio.
In my new volunteer capacity with the Butte County, CA CERT program I now have a GMRS license. Our CERT radio expert recommended the Midland MXT 400 as the best choice for a mobile GMRS radio. When I searched the web to purchase the MXT 400 I found it was on backorder everywhere from the usual sources. But I was persistent and found Right Channel Radios. They had the radio in stock and shipped it immediately. They kept me informed of the shipment details and it arrived within a few days. I am still working on the installation issues. I am very happy with the radio and the customer service. I would buy again from Right Channel for my GMRS radio equipment.
