I purchased the President Johnson II because I was looking for a radio that has more features than a basic radio but can take the abuse of bouncing around in a dump truck. This radio has proved itself so far, great reception and transmission, easy to use, the ASC and “Local” functions of the radio are great and I love the lightweight mic from President. Great radio for a good price and as always great service from RCR!
I recieved everything I ordered in a timely matter. Installation went fairly smooth once I decided where I should mount everything and where i wanted to pull power from. Once powered up tuning was a breeze. This kit was one of RCR package deals and I very happy with how it turned out.
Installation was on a 2013 f150.
Great PA speaker, solid and well built. I mounted mine under the hood on my F-150; to the air box. It's not loud enough to tell a left lane camper to move over at speed, but it's loud enough to have fun with otherwise.
Install and wiring were straight forward; strip, crimp, heat shrink.
If you have an F-150 you're going to need to trim the plastic top cap on the bed rails to access the stake pockets. Once you've done that, install is very straight forward.
As you can see I modified mine just a bit so I could rotate the bracket 90° to tuck the antenna behind my cab so it didn't get raked off by brush and trees at the ranch.
I have a 4 foot firestick and it supports that weight fine, with a heavy spring, and no slapping the cab.
I installed the new President Bill III in my 2024 Tacoma. It was an easy install. I downsized from a Cobra 25WX NW due to space with a magnet antenna. I may have to install my Firestick antenna later. This antenna is working great so far. I purchased a radio mount for the handle in the Tacoma from Gigaparts, a prefect fit.
