If you're performing a new pickup CB installation, there is no better choice than our Cobra 29 LTD Complete Pickup Package. We've helped thousands of pickup owners with new CB installations, and have used that knowledge to assemble a kit that makes selecting and installing a quality CB package in your pickup incredibly easy.

  • EVERYTHING you need, with components designed to work together
  • Customized for YOUR pickup. A dozen mounting options for Ford, Chevy, GMC and others
  • High quality items that are built to last from Cobra and Firestik
  • Wiring and coax specifically chosen to allow for the EASIEST installation possible

Cobra 29 Series CB Radio: We've built this kit around the most popular pickup radio we sell – the Cobra 29. The Cobra 29 series is a full-featured CB radio that's well known for its reliability and performance, and should offer years of trouble-free operation. While the standard Cobra 29 Classic offers many popular CB features (RF gain, Public Address, Built-in SWR meter), the kit includes the option to upgrade to any of the other Cobra 29 models including radios with backlit display, weather and Bluetooth functionality.

Firestik FS Antenna: Included with this kit is the most popular fiberglass CB antenna on the market – the Firestik FS II. This is our best selling fiberglass antenna because it performs well, is extremely durable, and tunes up very nicely. The tuning screw on top of the antenna makes adjusting the antenna for peak performance and low SWR simple. Usually sold separately, a Firestik stainless steel spring is also included to protect the antenna from damage. Choose from 3' or 4' lengths, as well as black, white, blue or red antenna color.

Mount Choices: We offer more than a dozen mounting options to ensure the perfect fit on your pickup. Manufacturer specific mounts are available for Ford, Chevy, GMC, Dodge and Toyota models. In the event we don't have a mount for your specific make and model, we offer universal hood, stake hole and vertical surface mounts that will work with nearly all vehicles. Every mount is made from stainless steel to resist rust and hold up to years of abuse. For a summary of all available mounting options, please see the chart below.

18' Fire-Ring FME Coax Cable: We chose this unique coax cable from Firestik for one reason: it makes installation MUCH easier! As anyone who has installed a CB before can attest to, the most challenging part is figuring out how to route the coax cable. Most coax cable has a large, bulky PL-259 connector attached to the end which makes routing the coax through small openings impossible. While some coax comes with the PL-259 connection left off, the connector must be soldered on once the cable is routed. The included Fire-Ring FME coax solves both of these issues. When you're ready to route the cable, remove the bulky PL-259 connection simply by screwing it off and leaving the tiny FME end. Once the cable is routed, simply screw the PL-259 connection back on and you're finished. No need to drill large holes, and no need for messy and complicated soldering. NOTE: Internal Stakehole Mounting Option does require PL-259 coax soldering. All other available options make use of previously described Fire-Ring FME coax.

Cigarette Adapter: If you're not electrically inclined, hard wiring the power leads to your truck can be a confusing and frustrating process. That's why we've included a cigarette power adapter that will allow you to easily power your Cobra 29 series radio. The other end of the adapter plugs directly into the 3-pin power connection on the back of the radio, and requires no fussing around with bare wires. If and when you're ready to hard wire the power to your truck's electrical system, the kit also includes a standard 3-pin power cord with unprocessed ends.

I wanted a decent CB radio for my pickup. I looked around online and I got pretty much overwhelmed with technical info, fancy gizmos and expensive stuff that I thought I didn't really need.

I got to Right Channel and found what I was looking for. Straight up information and a package that was put together for exactly what I needed. A no-nonsense good radio and matching antenna. There was plenty of information for antenna tuning and radio installation too. Great!

I chose the Cobra 29 LTD and four-foot Firestik with the pickup stake hole mount. Exactly what I needed. A good radio, antenna and how to install it.

I had to think a bit about where to put the antenna. My bed has a tonneau cover so the straight stake hole mount wouldn't work. I got the overhang stake hole mount so it would fit under the tonneau. One thing to mention here, that mount bottom piece had to come off completely and re-orient 90 degrees because that is the way the stake hole is, not the way it is packaged.

Anyway, I figured that out and it fits perfectly into the stake hole. I scraped some paint off the bottom of the underside of the stake hole but my multimeter wasn't getting a ground. So I had to add the ground wire to the pre punched hole in the mount. The rest of the installation was pretty much straightforward. I mounted the radio on the back of the center console. By doing that, the antenna connection was tight to the floor. I didn't like that but luckily, I already had a right angle antenna connector and that worked perfectly. The rest of the antenna wire I pulled together like they said in a yarn shape and put a tie wrap around it to minimize RF coil shape.

I tuned the antenna in the widest open space I knew, a nearby beach parking lot. Right in the middle, no light poles around. Funny, in that big parking lot somebody came up to me and asked me what I was doing, measuring the wind? Ha ha I had to laugh. I used the swr meter right on the radio and after a few trips in and out, got decent readings well below 2. I would have never had gotten that right if Right Channel Radios didn't have those great instructions on their site. I know it's not hard, but if you don't know how to do it, then it doesn't get done right.

As far as the radio goes, the Cobra 29 LTD is perfect for me. Rf gain, dynamike, sw meter, noise reduction. Everything you need is there. Reception is great and everyone says I sound good. There is plenty of volume. I only keep it around a little above halfway and it's fine.

Why did I get a CB in this time of cell phone and GPS? Well, I got this radio because I drive I95 and I can hear the Truckers talk about traffic or road debris ahead, wako drivers, and stuff you don't get on traffic reports or on the GPS. What do you do with a cell phone? Who do you call? I also see a lot of trucks with their trailer lights out, dragging a chain, or have a blown tire on their trailer and stuff like that. Just two days after I had that radio in, there was a major wreck on the opposite side of the road. I was able to tell truckers to get off the exit before they could to go around it.

CB radios are not a thing of the past, they are just as fun and useful now as they ever were. I find out that there are a few jokers and showboaters, but Sunday morning I drove and thought the radio wasn't working. Quiet with squelch all the way down. So I call for a radio check and someone comes right back "Your radio's working." So it goes to show you even if it's quiet, people are listening.

Thanks to Right Channel Radios for their help and putting together a package that is perfect for my needs.
