Quick Overview

The Wilson 5000 outperforms all other fiberglass, base-loaded and center-loaded antennas, making it our top recommendation for best-in-class range! Featuring a unique floating coil, the antenna is designed to endure extreme winter icing and won't stop working in severe weather. Rated for 5,000 watts AM and 20,000 SSB, the Wilson 5000 can handle serious, high-powered radios. The screw-off coil allows the antenna to separate at the coax-wired base for convenience entering low-clearance areas or for temporary antenna storage. This magnet version of the Wilson 5000 includes a heavy-duty magnet that will stay put at highway speeds and mounts to any flat metallic surface, making it a convenient choice for installations on cars, trucks or commercial vehicles.

Additional Information

Model / SKU: Wilson W5000 MAG-BK
Recommended for: High-performance, long-range CB use for individuals wanting an easy installation on cars, trucks or commercial vehicles. If you're using a 4-watt stock CB radio, we recommend the Wilson 1000 magnet CB antenna over the more expensive Wilson 5000. The 1000 is cheaper and will provide similar transmit and receive performance. The additional price for the Wilson 5000 is justified if you're running high-wattage radio equipment or if the antenna will be used frequently in extreme winter conditions, as the 5000's floating coil is designed to prevent ice-related performance issues.

Bad design.

I bought this after being unhappy with the L'il Wilson. Thought this would be better and had good reviews. Removed from truck most of the time because ferries here charge oversize rig fees with it. Have greased it with dielectric grease periodically. Took it on three month trip to Alaska this summer and when I cMe back the antenna would not unscrew from base; just wound the coax up inside. The metal threads between coil and base must have rusted together. Tried penetrating oil with no success. Opened base and tried undoing the bolt but it just slipped. No joy. Wrote Wilson with zip response. After two problem antennas and zero service, I am done with Wilson in spite of their reviews. (Posted on October 4, 2014)

I've been a CB radio enthusiast for 40 years and Wilson has been THE antenna since they hit the market. You know your radio doesn't make as much difference as a properly tuned antenna. I have owned five Wilson antennas. If I need another,.....Wilson! (Posted on April 14, 2014)

This mount has some restrictions like you cant go to the ATM at some banks if they have short roofs. Also, don't put the spacer on it if you don't want it to fly off. (Posted on July 27, 2013)

I am not rating the product so much as the customer service provided by Right Channel Radios. They were great, responsive to questions, and prompt. I lost 1 of the 2 screws required to secure the Wilson 5000 antenna, and Right Channel Radios sent me some new screws without question. I didn't need to call about a technical question but I have no doubt I would have received a prompt and accurate reply. Folks its not about the cheapest thing you can find but the quality of the product, and just as importantly, the quality of the customer service behind the product. Right Channel Radios has earned my business for quite some time to come. (Posted on January 1, 2013)
