Firestik CB Antenna Mount: These mounts were designed for Jeep Wrangler models 1997 to 2006. This mount lets you install your antenna on either side of the vehicle. The mount and support bracket are made from 12-gauge (0.109") stainless steel. Once installed, you won't see any mounting holes. All mounting hardware -- also stainless steel -- is hidden under the vehicle's hood. Although these mounts are made for newer Wrangler models, the mounting concept is very basic, and the mounts will likely work on pre-1997 Jeeps as well. Mount includes a standard 3/8" x 24 threaded antenna mounting stud.
If you plan on using your vehicle on severe terrain, you should move the mount forward (i.e., closer to the fender bolt) for added stability. The Jeep fender design leaves a large portion of the fender unsupported near the windshield.
The upper bracket is 2" (51mm) wide and 3" (76mm) long. A slight angle on the inside edge of the bracket follows the angle of the hood line. To mount the bracket, you'll need to drill two 1/4" holes in the inner fender lip. A 12-gauge, 2" x 3/4" support plate installs on the bottom edge of the fender to strengthen the mount. We supply you with 1/4-20" stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers to secure the bracket to the vehicle.
Note: The rear part of the fender on newer Jeeps does not have the support found in earlier models. On these vehicles, we recommend mounting the bracket at least 8" (20cm) in front of the rear edge of the fender, where it has sufficient support. If you mount it too far back, or if the rear part of the fender is not given additional support, the fender will flex from any whipping action of the antenna, depending on antenna size.
