Product Description

This kit provides an ideal solution when a quality CB antenna installation is needed where a good vehicle chassis ground isn't available. Whether it be on a RV, trailer, motorhome or boat, this kit will provide superior CB performance in a no-ground environment. All kit components are high-quality parts manufactured by Firestik.

The antennas used in these kits are extremely similar to Firestik's Firefly series, but are specially modified for NGP applications. They include a tunable tip, which makes adjusting for peak performance and minimal SWR as simple as turning a screw on top of the antenna.

The kits uses Firestik's molded M-2 "teardrop" side mount. The black plastic shell has a textured finish to give the installation a professional look. All hardware and coax connections are hidden in the inner wall of the vehicle to maintain visual integrity and prevent weather exposure. The actual mounting surface is approximately 3.125" (79mm) x 1.675" (43mm). Outward protrusion is about 1.875" (48mm). This mount comes complete with all of the required mounting hardware, rubber gasket, metal reinforcement plate, nylon insulator and ground terminal lug and can be mounted to surfaces up to 0.28 inches (7mm) thick.

The 17' coaxial cable used in these kits is of the highest quality. The NGP cable assembly that comes with this kit utilizes a custom manufactured coaxial cable available only through Firestik. This NGP cable can only be directly attached to Firestik NGP antennas. If a longer cable length is required, the user may add standard RG-58 A/U cable between the radio and NGP cable, preferably in lengths that are multiples of nine feet. Because it is a tuned circuit, the length cannot be reduced without causing non-repairable damage.

If you purchase this kit, please make sure to read these important NGP installation instructions.

Kit Includes:
  • 3' or 4' NGP FireFly Style CB Antenna
  • M-2 Firestik Molded Side Mount
  • 17' NGP Fire-Flex Coax Cable
  • Wire Microphone Hanger
  • Warranty: Five Years for Antenna, One Year for Mount and Coax

I purchased the FirestiK CB antenna which arrived much sooner than expected - thanks to the sales person! Put it right on my RV and it worked perfectly out of the box!

Pros - very easy to use and works as advertised.

Cons - none.

Great product and I am very glad I ordered it from Right Channel Radio! Thanks!

Antenna: I would have liked to have been able to get a 2 foot antenna, but I realize the SWR would be a factor. I should have ordered a light duty spring to increase flexibility. I have verified correct SWR. Original suggestion that 1/4 inch thread
exposed was very close. I use channel 19 mostly. It was installed on a R. V. and have not had unit out to test. Great instructions on how to install. Rate at 5 if communications are OK after test .

I purchased the NGP (no ground plane) Side-Mount Kit - Firestik CB
Antenna Kit (Stock #LG3-M2-B) for installation and use on a Class A motor
home. I recommend reading the instructions very thoroughly, then read
them again, in addition to watching the video provided on the Web site.

I was fortunate enough to remove the interior cowling located above the
driver's door and have sufficient working space. After careful
measurement I was able to cut into the interior wall using a Roto-Zip
tool (a small router), and remove the "plug" which consisted of the
interior wall paneling and the styrofoam insulation. Unfortunately I
encountered a welded aluminum angle brace which is part of the motor home
wall framing.

After measuring once again I was able to cut the second access
successfully, and reinstalling the first plug. If I were to do this
again I would recommend using a small drill bit to probe the wall from
the interior of the RV for any obstructions being very careful not to
puncture the exterior fiberglass wall.

Calibrating the antenna using a SWR meter proved to be a huge success,
even though it took me several attempts working by myself.

I would rate this product as a 5+. It just doesn't get any better!
