What’s lug, got to do, got to do with it? In this case, this is the perfect lug-style stud that’s compatible with a terminal or ring-style coax cable. You’ll use this mount to attach to the existing fender bolts on your truck for an easy, no-drill install. Designed from rust-resistant stainless steel and recommended for antennas up to 4' tall.

Need a complete CB system? This mount is an option in our Dodge Ram CB Kit.

Model / SKU:Firestik SS184
Recommended for:
Dodge Ram and Dakota pickups from 1994 to 2003. Due to body changes made in 2004, this mount will not fit 2004 and newer vehicles. (Please see the 2004-2008 Dodge mount for newer models.)
Compatible with:All fiberglass and center-load antennas that use a standard 3/8" x 24 threaded base. Recommended for antennas up to 4' tall. Lug stud requires a terminal or ring-style CB coax.
Installation Notes:When the hood is open, the fender bolt near the firewall is removed (right or left side) and later reused to bolt the antenna bracket to the fender lip under the hood. All mounting hardware is invisible unless the hood is open. Additional stainless steel sheet metal screws are supplied for extra strength. The bracket has a predetermined bend and does not interfere with hood closure.
Mount Location:Hood / Fender
Stud Type:Lug (Ring and Terminal)
Material:Stainless Steel
Product Includes:Mount and lug-style stud
Antenna and coax sold separately

The SS184 stainless steel mount is primarily used to install antennas on 1994 through 2003 Dodge Ram and Dakota pickups. (Due to body changes made in 2004, this mount will not fit 2004 and newer vehicles.) When the hood is open, the fender bolt near the firewall is removed (right or left side) and later reused to bolt the antenna bracket to the fender lip under the hood. All mounting hardware is invisible unless the hood is open. Additional stainless steel sheet metal screws are supplied for extra strength. The bracket has a predetermined bend and does not interfere with hood closure. The bracket is 2" (51mm) wide by 4.1" (104mm) long, and the stud requires terminal or ring-style coaxial connectors. However, we do have a mini kit that contains the bracket and FireRing coax in one package. If you don't already have the coax, the mini kit (MK-184R) would be a better choice.

Under the hood mount for an antenna

The antenna mount worked well with my Dodge 2003 STL, The thing is the drawings show using what is now the AC inlet to the cab so I found that if you go to the fender well and door jamb you will find a rubber grommet that goes between the cab and the interior. You will have to remove the plastic guard next to the door it just pops out and then you will see the grommet it's behind the insulation, after you pull the coax through you will need to thread it up and over the steering column and then down to where you're going to mount the radio this only took me about an hour and a half from start to finish. I have some photos to help you get through this but something is going wrong with my phone and I cannot copy them over to you but it is really self-explanatory when you start looking at it

Did not fit

I am a bit late to this party as I bought this mount from here about 3 or 4 years ago. I have a 2003-1/2 Dodge Ram with the Cummins and this mount did not fit under the hood. The bolt shown in the pictures are on a 2002 but not on a 2003. Instead I mounted it at the left front corner of the bed and the contour actually works excellent back there. Especially when combined with the Firestick Firewire and lug style cable mount. So, if you have a 2003, take a longer look at the fender mount (hood) for the 2004 to 2008 (AUDODGE2). The mounting bolt in the pictures is in the correct location. The quality of the piece is excellent and as usual the customer service is outstanding here at RCR. The only reason I marked this part with three stars is the part is not for a 2003.
