Wilson used the basic design of the Wilson Trucker 5000 with the exclusive low loss coil and proven performance qualities of the Wilson 1000. Due to unique Wilson design techniques, the Wilson 5000 will outperform all other base loaded antennas available. With the 5000 made from solid 3/16" copper silver plated wire, and the special design of the floating coil, it will not ice up, stop working even in severe winter conditions. There is no chance of the coil windings cracking from freeze up. The Wilson 5000 is designed to withstand some serious power and will handle 5,000 watts AM and 20,000 watts SSB (ICAS ratings). The Wilson 5000 is an awesome piece of gear and adds to a smaller radio big performance.
I was able to reach out to 9 miles with a small Cobra radio tune of course.
Just a great piece of gear. Recommend this for anyone who doesn't have the money to spend on 10Watt or higher radio. This antenna reaches out to everyone!!

I cannot be more pleased with my purchase of the Uniden PC78 Elite in conjunction with the Wilson 5000 antenna. It lives up to all of my expectations. The Wilson 5000 is a fantastic antenna which I am going to purchase for my personal car's radios. I have no problem transmitting and receiving (on a good day 5-14 miles). I rate the Uniden PC78 and the Wilson 5000 a 5 out of 5. I have yet to see better with a standard CB radio.
