With this Firestik kit, truck owners can mount their antennas using the stake holes in their truck beds. The mount has a plate connected by four bolts, allowing the stainless steel mount to easily and securely attach to the inside of the stake hole for a no-drill installation. Kit includes 18' of quality Firestik coax cable with a low-profile, weather-resistant ring end. Perfect for single or dual antenna setups, this mount creates a sturdy mounting platform that can support antennas up to 5'.

Recommended for:	Pickup trucks. This mount attaches to the inside of stake holes along the bed rails of pickup trucks. If installing on the stake holes directly behind the cab, we recommend using at least a 4' antenna. Shorter antennas may experience SWR and performance issues due to being so close to the cab without ample room above the roof line. Can support antennas up to 5' tall.
Compatible with:	All CB radios, and all fiberglass and center-load antennas that use a standard 3/8" x 24 threaded base.
Installation Notes:	Important Note: The PL-259 connector (radio screw-on end) is supplied in this kit but is NOT installed on the coax cable. This allows the cable to be routed into the vehicle through a smaller (0.375") hole. After the connector is placed on the coax, the center must be soldered to the PL connector. To install this mount, you'll need to loosen the plate connected to the stake-hole mount. The plate will go on the inside of the stake hole. Once you've slid the plate inside the hole, tighten the four bolts and the plate around the bottom lip of the stake hole. Be sure that either the mount or mounting plate have direct metal-to-metal contact with the frame in order to achieve a solid ground.

Firestik CB Antenna Mount: The square holes in the bed rails of full-sized pickup trucks are the prefect location for a no-drill antenna mount. The flat upper bracket is 6" (152mm) long and extends out over the bed rail, so you can mount your antenna without losing the ability to mount a camper shell. Includes stud mount, stainless steel brackets and hardware, and a gasket to protect the vehicle finish.

IMPORTANT: When mounted in either of the stake-hole pockets directly behind the vehicle cab, antennas under 4' will experience substantial reflection from the metallic corners of the cab (between the side and rear glass). As a result, shorter antennas will likely be difficult -- if not impossible -- to tune to a satisfactory SWR. Subsequently, we recommend antennas longer than antennas with this mount.

A very good mount! They must have improved the screws since previous writer. I had to readjust a couple of times due to needing an extra ground wire, (remove, drill hole in bed rail, re-fasten), and no stripping or loss of gripping strength. Looks good, fits good and it’s doing the job. Five Stars! (Posted on October 4, 2012)

Great mount but could use better screws

Extremely solid mount to the stakehole.
No holes needed to be drilled.

CONS:
Poor quality fasteners supplied with the kit.
Confusing instructions.

I mounted a 102" SS whip and 6" pot belly spring using this mount. SWR was an instant 1.3:1 across the whole band.

Overall a 4.5 rating.
This is my 3rd FIRESTIK mount that I've owned. The mount works as I expected, based on prior FIRESTIK products. I am supporting a 108" antenna on a 2" x2" mount. There is no flex at all. The mount is solid. I made several minor adjustments to the mount during installation. FIRESTIK has apparently done some cost cutting over the years since my last purchase. The SS screws supplied obviously came from the lowest bidder. The SS screws failed while LOOSENING the mount. 3 of the 4 stripped during removal.

Better quality screws were purchased at a local hardware store. This also required retapping the lower plate. The same sheet of directions must be supplied with all of their mounts. The pictures on them were not exactly like the kit I received. I also had a couple of parts that were not shown in the directions.

I give this mount a 4.5 simply because of the poor quality screws supplied. Now that I've installed this mount, I'm certain that I won't experience any difficulty with future mounts. I do recommend this mount to anyone with a pick-up truck. (Written 5/13/2010) (Posted on January 2, 2012)
