This antenna is the best I've ever owned I used to have a k40 and the signal was terrible and the wilson 5000 beats it hands down. Perfect match for my Uniden CB. I've own the Wilson for 3 weeks and it's great.

Excellent antenna, high gain and it gets out clear and loud. I had someone saying I was rattling their cage pretty good today when I was doing some distance testing. It took me about 10 minutes to set up, and that includes installing the whip, running the coax where I wanted and tuning. I've got SWR of 1.2-1.3 from channel 1-40. I first paired this antenna with a Midland 75-822 and the antenna was overpowering the radio with noise. I recommend getting a radio that has adjustable RF gain to pair with this antenna. I replaced the Midland with a Cobra 19 DX IV Compact CB Radio and used that today with great results.

This antenna is great if you want exceptional performance without drilling holes in your vehicle.

I purchased a Cobra 29 WX NW ST "Classic" CB Radio from RCR after a much welcome discussion with RCR's Sales department. I had not had a CB Radio in 30 years and was "out of touch" with the state of the art. I also purchased a Wilson 5000 Magnetic antenna. The system is mounted in my Silverado and I could not be happier with the performance. Great people, great service, honest answers and fast shipping. Two friends will be following my lead with RCR.

As a professional installer, when I set this antenna on a vehicle I know it will be a hassle free customer hit. I use a professional analyzer for tuning and with only a slight adjustment these antennas consistently bottom out on SWR readings the way no other antenna does. While they are expensive, they are worth every penny you will spend. I have seen customers spend hundreds on various antennas trying to save money when this one purchase would have solved their problem instantly. Unless you are into the mega serious ultra high wattage competition with several alternators and batteries, this antenna will handle anything you throw at it. The only other antenna to be be in the ballpark would be the 102 inch whip mounted in the middle of your vehicle. The whip length is the key to any antenna. Buy with confidence.

(Review excepts of the Wilson 1000 and 5000 Magnet Mount antennas posted with permission from CBRadioMagazine.com. To read the full review, please visit www.cbradiomagazine.com.)

The antenna is put together very well and the magnetic base is easily strong enough to hold the antenna to any vehicle with a metal body. The thing I love about these antennas is that they are so easy to set up. All you need to do is slap the antenna on the roof of your car, route the coax to the radio and plug it in, and then do some minor tuning to achieve a good SWR. In most cases you can be up and running with a SWR of 1.2 or so within about 10 minutes.

As far as performance, these antennas aren’t your average magnet mount. They really have excellent gain and great transmit properties. Other stations often will tell me that my Wilson 1000 paired with a President HR2510 radio makes me sound like I’m talking on a strong base station. The antenna has allowed me to make many DX contacts and talking local is never a problem.

Either of these antennas (Wilson 1000 or 5000) are a solid choice if a solid mount antenna is not going to work for you. In any case the Wilson 1000 and Wilson 5000 antennas offer excellent performance in a small and easy to mount package. I’ve always been able to get a SWR under 1.5 with either antenna and never had any problems with failure or defects.
