I have been associated with radios, both CB and amateur for many years. I have owned dozens of different mobile antennas over the years. After studying the construction of the Monkey Made, I was impressed. This antenna is for the operator who wants top performance. I own several mobile antennas which I compared to the Monkey Made with on the air checks the day I got the new MM-7. I was well pleased with the test and I must tell you the MM7 is the antenna I left on my truck. The Monkey Made is a large robust constructed antenna. The diameter of the lower shaft and the thickness of the coil all come into play for making this a top performer. When dealing with RF signals, we get what is called the "skin affect", which means the high frequency travels on the surface of the antenna. A thicker wider surface such as the Monkey Made has is excellent. The band width makes this a good choice for an amateur operator also. I can cover my 10 meter band and also drop back down and talk to 11 meter stations with an excellent SWR from 26-29 MHZ. You will need a good mount for these antennas. Get a tri magnet mount if you use a magnetic mount. Or even a quad. I am using a tri mount with no problems on top of the cab of my GMC half ton PU. If you want the most out of your radio, this is the way to go. This is also a very nice clean looking antenna.
