Whether it's for business or personal use, the Galaxy 2547 makes a great base station. The radio can be plugged in to any standard wall outlet, but can also run on DC power for field operations. Aside from the long-range performance SSB makes possible, the Galaxy DX 2547 packs a full set of features, including a six-digit frequency counter, automatic SWR calibration, talk back, roger beep, PA, RF gain, a large SWR/modulation/power meter and many more. The included 1/4" headphone jack allows for discrete listening, and the oversized central control dial allows for fast setting adjustment. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Galaxy requires customers to ship all radios needing repair or warranty work directly to the manufacturer (Galaxy) after purchase. This includes radios that arrive defective. Due to this policy, we are unable to accept returns on Galaxy radios.

    I have probably had every Galaxy side being Radio they have made in the last 10 years, you have to get a technician that knows what he’s doing to do an alignment and unlock the clarifier. Otherwise you’ll just be a frequency.

    Basically, a good base.

    I held off on buying this unit for a while. The fact that it's the only base station radio currently in production was a factor, both in the purchase, and the holding off. I dislike the idea of not having any competition in a segment, so while I wanted a base, I wasn't sure I might not want to find an older one. But after having my 959 for a while and being very impressed with it, I decided to give this a go since many folks say it's just a 959 in a desktop chassis. While that's fairly accurate, there are some differences, for instance, an actual tone adjustment knob instead of just a three position switch.Otherwise, the feature set is very similar, just with different controls. One of the reasons I wanted a base unit, specifically, was because of the headphone port. I want to be able to listen to the radio and talk without everyone in the house having to listen to the radio as well, since some folks on the radio aren't quite as good radio citizens as they should be. At any rate, having a couple of hours on the radio now, I can honestly say, there is no reason to hold back - this isn't a junk unit that Galaxy is just getting away with because there isn't any competition. I'd still like to see someone else make one, but this one works just fine.

    GALAXY AND Right Channel radio issues

    I bought the Galaxy DX 2547 and immediately noticed my Channel indicator was defective. About half of the display doesn't light . I called Right Channel only to be told they wont help me I need to go to Galaxy , I go to galaxy to be told there too busy (3 months out) that maybe I could "spray some CRC spray in it it should work" The Person at Galaxy tried to assist over the phone but it did not fix it. SO several hundreds of dollars later I still sit here with a defective unit . This now up to me to pay freight and give up my Radio for at least 3 Months . Poor customer NO SERVICE at RIGHT CHANNEL RADIO. BUYER BEWARE!
