The Firestik NGP Replacement antenna is designed to be used with No-Ground kits and coax cable ONLY! Using a NGP antenna with standard coax cable will result in serious performance issues. These antennas are perfect for building a custom NGP system, or if you need a replacement antenna for a NGP kit you currently have.
The antenna's frequency is altered in order to maintain a desirable center band position when used with the tuned coaxial feedline. Accordingly, this type of antenna may only be used with the Firestik NGP cable. The chrome plated machine brass mounting base has standard 3/8"-24 threads. A high efficiency, voltage increasing helical wind is also utilized. Heavy insulated copper wire is used to guard against shorted coils and corrosion induced resistance which is commonly found on other brands of antennas.
ALL antennas, regardless of style or manufacturer, MUST be tuned after installation on the vehicle. Transmitting antennas are not "plug-n-play" devices.
