I used mine for about a year. It was the best antenna I had used. I had a hard time getting the right one for my connex. After about a year I was driving down the highway and it passed me. It had broken off at the base. But while I had it, I was very pleased.

Monkey made 9 antenna...

Overall very happy with this antenna. The recieve is excellent. The welds and construction are awesome!! Only down side for me, is that the whip is pretty heavy. The aluminium shaft is fairly light by itself but the whip is non tappered and is .200" thick all the way up, which puts a lot of torque on the mounting point/bracket. I'm going to make up my own bracket out of 1/4" thick steel, to replace the thinner one I'm using on my bed rail now.

Even with the coil sitting about 5-6 inches behind my cab along the bed rail, the SWR's are flat on 1 through 40. I was surprised and that was with no triming at all. On a mountain top at night, I was just able to talk to a guy about 30-35 miles away, at 15 watts AM. I could hear him clear as a bell. He had trouble hearing me I guess because I wasn'y using a power mic and because my signal is somewhat directional due to wear I mounted it, which would have sent the signal more in the opposite direction he was. On the roof this thing would get out a lot better IMO but I'm not drilling a hole in the roof for a little more get out ability.

I would probably buy one of these again, as it works as good, maybe even better on recieve than a 102" mounted on the roof, which I had on a older truck way back when.

I give it a 4.5 but I rounded it up to 5 stars. If it had an option for a lighter tappered whip, I would give it a 5+ rating. I have no doubt this thing could handle lots of watts, like they say

I have been into cb since the early 1960s. 6 transistor 300 milliwatts [to me that was power], walkie talkies connected to wire scavenged from old toasters, iorns,tv's ect taped together long enough to reach the chimmney on top of a 2 story apartment building. There I had aluminum tubing scavenged from older cb operators. Antennas that were casualties from summer storms taken to my workshop basement. My father was a plumber - I used his tools to cut, connect w/ screws and transform scrap into a 25 foot monster antenna. From there to the 1970's I was cb mobile crazy all kinds of antennas never the small 2-3 foot tall frail, anorexic looking junk some cb operators would swear by! My choice was always the tallest, the most well made mobile antennas that I could find. I still have a lot of the old antennas in my archive. I recently searched the internet for the best looking & the most well made antenna that i have ever seen. On a recent trip down south from Illinois I passed a truck and saw this kind of antenna. I made contact with the trucker he told me it was a monkey made. From that point my search was over. I found & ordered it & when I got it I pulled it from the box - I said YES NOW THAT IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! The workmanship is unbelieveably heavy, extremely well made good looking the best antenna I have seen or used. Low swr because of the design & because of its composition & what it is made of - highly conductive metal. And in addition to being a cb veteran cb is and always will be my roots this is where i spend most of my radio time. I am also a lisensed ham radio operator that designes antennas mobile & base. Believe me I know antennas and this is the best I have ever owned.
