The Firestik NGP replacement antenna is designed to be used ONLY with other NGP (no-ground plane) kits and coax cable. Using an NGP antenna with standard coax cable will result in serious performance issues. These antennas are perfect for building a custom NGP system or replacing a damaged NGP antenna.

Details

The antenna's frequency is altered in order to maintain a desirable center band position when used with the tuned coaxial feedline. Accordingly, this type of antenna may only be used with the Firestik NGP cable. The chrome-plated machine brass mounting base has standard 3/8"-24 threads. A high-efficiency, voltage-increasing helical wind is also utilized. Heavy insulated copper wire is used to guard against shorted coils and corrosion-induced resistance, which is commonly found on other brands of antennas.

Overall Rating

I am using a rigid mount with this rigid antenna so it does not sway back and forth as I ride. This prevents the fading in and out of the signal. The tunable tip is very helpful in adjusting the SWR. I get very good reception and transmission using this antenna. Overall this antenna is great. (Posted on May 29, 2012)
