This is a great antenna

This is a great antenna. It gets the signal out nicely and is well built. This antenna replaced a Radio Shack antenna I had where nobody could ever hear me and began rusting within a week at the antenna base connections. This antenna hasn't shown any rust after weeks of rain here. The top whip is adjustable via a flat bladed screw/thumb turn. It works but I would have preferred if Hustler put a allen wrench screw there instead as they are a bit more easy to tighten.
Overall this is an excellent antenna from Hustler.

As a college educated technician, I can tell you that Hustler products are in the top 5 rated categories in my opinion. They are number 1 for quality versus price. I have worked in the radios' field since 1973 and these American made antennas will get you on the airways in style. They are easy to tune and give you day after day of quality out signal. Never hesitate to purchase a Hustler if the style suits your needs.

Great Performance & Durability!

I have nothing but rave reviews for the 42" Hustler SCB. I ran this antenna on my Volvo 630 on a bird perch with outstanding results. Paired with a Cobra 29LTD or a Galaxy 98VHP this antenna shines brightly. While it is rated to handle 1000 watts, I can attest that it does perform up to 400 watts with no problems. The only hiccups I encountered were coax related. The finish has held up remarkably well over 2 1/2 years, not one spot of corrosion. Since I was running it on a Volvo, notoriously bad for grounds, I used a separate ground wire of flat braid wire ran down to the battery box mounting bolts. I use the Hustler SCB on my Dodge Ram as does my father and uncle. I never shy away from this antenna when asked for a recommendation. The SCBS (9" lower post) will pair well with pickup application when mounted on the top rail of metal side windows. Use the SCB (22" lower post) with lower mounting points.

Low SWR - Great Antenna!

Wow! I put my new Hustler (SCB-S) on my truck this morning. First try with the meter gave me a 1.6 on 1 and no needle movement on 40. I raised the whip about an 1/8" and tried again. Wow! Both 1 and 40 came in well under 1.1, and no meter movement on 20. Wow! This is my second Hustler and it is just a good as the first, seems like someone liked my first one more than I did and it sort of came up missing one night. The old one was the same as this only Red on a 5" magnet mount. This one is on a Firestik permanent mount base and yes the 4' Firestik II was a good antenna but both the wife and I hated the noise it made 35 mph and up. We are both happy campers again. Wow! Great antenna

This antenna has improved my reception a lot. I drove an 18-wheeler tanker in the gas field of Arkansas before and everybody said that I was getting in and out. We actually drive a lot of gravel roads and the antennas went through a lot low limbs. And this one is doing really good! I recommend this antenna for any big truck! (Posted on November 27, 2012)

Good antenna.

I am not a driver or trucker, just a regular guy; a doc. Used to have a CB when I was in college. Now that I am having my mid life crisis, Harley and all, I wanted to get a "real" CB hook up. The shorter hustler antenna is part of my equipment. I can't tell how far I transmit but I am definitely picking up drivers from far out! And clear! I had it mounted on the top rear of an expedition. My CB has an SWR meter built in, and the readings are basically 1. I even called CB manufacturer to make sure I was calibrating correctly. It must be working right cause I hear everything, and people tell me I am loud and clear. This is a fine antenna. Only down side was it was not straight when I got it. It was bent a little from the coil up. Not a biggie but it bothers me. (Posted on January 31, 2013)
