This radio is the bomb!

Review by William Ogden
Overall Rating
This radio is the bomb! I bought two. They both came in at 4 watts full power. The ANL/NB is the best I have used on any cb radio, and is far superior to some amateur rigs. The LCD Display is better than my Ranger 2950DX,you can see better from the side. cobra must have thought about this when the software was made.I have found one minor bug in the software and that is when you check SWR, you have to let up off the PTT swith on your mic and manually hit swr button then key down again. The receiver has a large and nice wide squelch gate, that's makes the scanning of channels much better than before. the new controls are nice and very modern, very Cobra! This radio is well built and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The tone on the receive is nice but not as good as the 148 GTL. Talkback works very nice with the radios internal talkback speaker. Just READ the manual, the radios menu and button operation is much more modern and high tech than ANY PREVIOUS VERSIONS of Cobra cb radios. Right channel radios did a great job getting this collectors edition out to the public early. The weather section of the radio works great, although I have not traveld with it yet.Job well done Cobra. Happy 50th Birthday!

The Best radio with all the features!

Review by Larry R.
Overall Rating
This Cobra radio has all the treats with only a couple tricks. The four color display selection is fun but not so functional. Repeated adjustment to the contrast and brightness is required. The on/off dial is small and difficult to use if you have large fingers. The size of the radio is good for truckers but not 4 wheelers. For those of us that don't drive tractor trailer rigs yet lived in the smokey and the bandit era, we love the memories a CB radio brings.

If you want the best radio with all the features this radio is for you. The weather alert scan function could truly save your life. How do I rate this radio? Is five good enough? I spend a lot of hours on the road and my CB is as important as my cell phone. Cobra is the name in CB radios and this radio is the best.

Best Radio I have seen.

Review by Kenneth Hibbs
Overall Rating
I bought the Cobra 29 LX LE. I used the radio in my 2004 KW T-600 pulling a hopper trailer. Due to the nature of my work, my truck and equipment are subject to severe vibration and shock. This radio is the best I've had since they started building 40 channel radios. It has the power and the features that I need in my off road trips. The color changeable screen and the ability to adjust brightness and contrast is great. The 10-channel weather radio with auto scan feature is nice in bad weather. The calibration feature to fine tune the antenna is a must for truckers like me who subject their truck and antennas to severe duty. Paired with the Cobra HighGear speaker, its unbeatable.

Great radio for the price

Review by Bobbyrockittt

Just recently bought this 29 LX LE and it is a damn good radio. I haul bulk cement and flyash and I'll tell you what, it is a tough on. The only complaint I have is that when I'm talking I have people tell me that they can barely hear me and i need to turn up the mic power but I really dont talk on it that much so I'm not too worried about it. I would highly recommend it. (Posted on July 21, 2012)

Very cool radio, Very Satisfied!

Review by Stephen
Overall Rating
This is a very cool CB radio. First I love the way it looks. The physical appearance of the radio is quite impressive. Easy to read display which the changeable color is great. I have chosen Green, as it is easiest on the eyes at night and easy to read in the sunlight during the daytime. I also love the ability to control the contrast to get the best possible visibility on the screen.

This radio has weather, and the weather emergency radio, which will be great when our weather goes back to severe thunderstorms, and lightning. It also displays the actual frequency, not just the channel.... i'm sure other than being cool, I will find a reason for this one day. The display is easy to read, and the knobs are easy to keep up with. It has all the major CB functions and tuning to get the best possible transmit and receive ability.

Here is my biggest complaint.....no back lighting for nighttime. The radio is black on black, which makes it damn near impossible to see what the knobs are for at night. They thought of everything, except the backlight. I know most CBs do not have this feature, but, this is the 50th anniversary and has everything else....

Over all I am very satisfied with the radio!!!!! If I had to choose all over again, I would still pick this radio!!!

Nice CB!

Nice CB! Only gripe I have is that it doesn't have the night watch feature to go with the display. Then it would be perfect!

Radio works & looks great! Tons of features!

Review by Joshua
Overall Rating
I bought this radio after having a horrible experience with the Cobra 19 IV and so far I couldn't be any happier! This radio works great and was very easy to set up and use after installing a new antenna and coax. The furthest I've been able to pickup signals clearly has been 15 miles with weak signals coming through up to a little over 20. The only complaint I have is with such an innovative radio as this with so many features you don't see in ordinary units, there is no night watch feature! If they had that it would be a 5 star unit without any doubt!

Great Radio

Review by Mark
Overall Rating
I bought this radio to replace a discontinued model that no longer functioned. This radio has great features. The 4 different display color choices are a nice touch if you are trying to match the other lights in your vehicle. It would look better if it had night lighting for the other dials and buttons as they are hard to see at night. The weather channels are great for needed information on any travel routes.

The only thing I'd like to see changed would be a dedicated PA button or switch. When you want to use the PA, you have to push the button twice to go from the CB channels, then the weather channels and finally to the PA section. The built in SWR meter and calibration feature is also great for getting and keeping the best performance you can get out of your CB radio. (Posted on December 27, 2012)

Radio requires constant adjustment...

Review by Joe DiSalvatore
Overall Rating
I have just installed and used this radio for a 300 mile trip. As in the previous post, the one bug is swr calibration. I also found another bug, when using the channel 9/19 button I found that it also changes to the previous channel you were on. For instance, if I am on channel 23 and I hit the 9/19 button it will switch to 9 then I hit it again and it switches to 19 (so far so good) then I hit it again and it switches to 23. Not a big deal until you hit the button to go to 19 again and then try to transmit it automatically switches to 23 (just by pressing the transmit button????) Very inconvenient -must be a software glitch. I had to always look to see if i was still on channel 19 because it switches on it's own. I also picked up Mexican people talking for about 75 miles straight??? on channel 19 and on another channel --same conversation????. So far I am not impressed, my galaxy sounded better and I didn't have to constantly adjust the squelch. This radio requires constant adjustment.
