Great Antenna! Very Impressed!

Review by Kevin Conefrey
Overall Rating
I have had this antenna for only a week, but I'm so impressed with this product and would recommend this to anyone who wants a high performance indoor antenna.

This antenna out-performs any outside antenna I've ever owned with an SWR of 1.2:1. That is impressive! The only alteration I made was an additional ground(spiderweb) pattern on the radials which is connected to the base(ground) of the antenna, as well as minimal tuning of the tip. 5 stars!

Working Great! Need to have a metal ground!

Review by Albert Connell
Overall Rating
I am very happy with the antenna; but why, oh why, oh why don't you tell people that you have to have sheet metal ground when you're putting the antenna in above ground attic? You need at least 9 sq.ft. of sheet metal. It would save a lot of people like me a lot of aggravation. It is working great and I am very impressed with it. I would recommend it to anyone who is not permitted an outside antenna.

Terrific portable base station antenna

Review by Rocket Man

This is a well-designed and manufactured antenna. I gave this to my boy to use on the patio. I tuned it for him on his radio. It really gets out with only 4 watts. Make sure you use a top quality SWR meter and know how to read it or have someone who does tune the antenna. Great field day antenna, would highly recommend to anyone. Inexpensive and does a great job. (Posted on August 23, 2012)

Not to shabby.

I just recently purchased this antenna. It was a breeze to set the SWR around 1.3:1 on Ch. 40 and 1.5:1 on Ch. 1 with a decent DK. Running this as a back-up for my dipole antenna, I can't see 1kw running through it but easy 200 to 400 watts. I got good reports from locals all over 15+ air miles away with lots or hilly terrain. Also made some DX contacts. I do recommend this antenna although it is no where near the performance of a TRUE 5/8 wave antenna. - from Pittsburgh, PA (Posted on February 13, 2013)

Good atenna, need to place on a metal ground.

Setting up the antenna was a snap. Trying to get it to work in an attic was allot of work and expense. I read and watched the video and the setup might work outside on top of allot of metal and a great ground. I went to the firestik site and the section on the installation in an attic and they said you needed at least nine square feet of metal and a good ground. I used four(2x2) 24 gauge sheets of steel and 10 gauge wire to ground. With two sheets the best SWR was 2.5. With three sheets 1.4-1.5. Four sheets avg 1.25. Its working fine now. Weak transmit and receive

Review by Frank
Overall Rating
Ordered this antenna from this website. Great service here. Installed in the attic above the garage. Can't receive or transmit. Weak signal going and coming. I've read you need to install sheet metal plates underneath it if installed in an attic. I will not spend anymore money on this piece of junk. My radio is brand new (1week old) and has been peaked and tuned so i know that's not the problem. SWRs were high and i brought it down to 1.5 with no problem. I ordered this because of the reviews that said it was great. What a crock. (Written 1/27/2012) (Posted on February 22, 2012)
