Completely Satisfied!

I am completely satisfied with my purchase. The Midland 75-822 with car kit is just what I was looking for. My job includes a lot of travel and I enjoy talking with truckers and other CB'ers. Most importantly is the customer service that I received from Right Channel Radios. I am 100% satisfied with my with my CB and Right Channel Radios.

Surpassed my expectations

Review by Karl H.
Overall Rating
I purchased the Midland Hand held CB radio online. I liked the small size, the fact I received a car charger docking station, battery packs for regular batteries and rechargeable batteries and the small antenna. I bought the radio to use on my motorcycle when I go on trips with other motorcycles with built-in CB radios and intercoms. The small antenna was not powerful enough for interstate communications, so I purchased a small magnetic CB antenna and put on my trunk. The power of the radio is fantastic, the range is great. Some of the Goldwing owners with much more expensive CB systems said that they could hear me loud and clear all the time while the other radios got broken up and scratchy in the mountains. I could hear and talk to truckers several miles away and they said the signal was very clear. I am very happy with my Midland Micro Mobile-Portable CB 75822. My motorcycle group took a 1,000 mile trip down to Deal's Gap TN to ride the tail of the Dragon, 318 curves in 11 miles. It worked in mountainous country, on rainy days and at long distances. The only thing I would like to see changed on it would be the headset which would be better in an ear bud so I could wear it more comfortably inside a helmet. I had used CB radios back in the 1980s, also a Midland, so I knew it would be a quality CB, however this one surpassed my expectations.

Great product at a great price.

I have nothing bad to say about the Midland 75-822. It is a great Radio to purchase, especially if you're new to radio community. I purchased this at a different website but I wish I bought it from Right Channel Radios because they have great customer service and will help you if you have any questions about the product. Back to the radio, the radio feels real nice in my hands and it is good to be able to have all the buttons available in one hand. If you need to save space, this product is definitely for you. Great product at a great price.

Great Product!

I bought a Midland 75-822 and also bought a Lil Wil due to the very limited range of the rubber antenna that came with the radio. I can say that I did not experience the break thru noise others have complained of. I can also say that as soon as I plugged in the Little Wil, I was talking to guys 5-9 miles away. So far, so good. I love the quality and feel of this radio in my hand. Get yourself one for sure. PM

Lovely piece of gear, we are very pleased!

Just purchased the Midland 75-822 and I'm very pleased with it. We took our first trip last week and it worked perfectly. I also added a Wilson 1000 with a 62" whip and the reception and transmission were great. The speaker leaves a little to be desired but is quite acceptable for our truck. We have a diesel engine so noise was not a problem.

I also checked the SWR and is is almost 1:1 so the Wilson antenna is a perfect match for this unit. In general this is a lovely piece of gear and we are very pleased.

Great radio! It definitely needs an external antenna. Once that's up and tuned, you can't beat it. It stows away easy too. I didn't want to mount a big radio so it’s the perfect option. (Posted on October 8, 2012)

You just can't go wrong with the Midland 75-822 from Right Channel Radios!

The Midland 75-822 is a MUST HAVE radio! I borrowed a friend's this weekend and used it on the road. I used a Wilson's Lil Wil antenna. The SWR was 1.1 on channel 19! One of the best features is the "M3" a.k.a channel scan. This will scan all 40 channels and stop when the channel is active! It's really nice to have if you use your CB for work and the channels change. The Weather channels are great too!

The size of this CB is small and can fit anywhere you need to have a CB. Being that it is a very small CB Radio, I strongly advise to also pick up a speaker. We had to "Road Test" a new speaker we just got from Right Channel Radios and the SPB6 made the Midland 75-822 sound like a million bucks.

This is a great CB! I have used it in my home, hooked to my base antenna with excellent results. I took it mobile on my belt clip with me on motorcycle rides and camping. It exceeded my expectations and is very well built with many options of use. To a previous reviewer who complained about seeing a frequency number instead of a channel- you should have held down the function button and it would have switched right back to channel display. It comes with a CB instructions & rules pamphlet. In it is listed all the channel frequencies, you would have seen that 27.185 is simply channel 19. Having a "freq display" is actually a nice option and not something to berate the manufacturer about. (Posted on April 6, 2013)

Works for what I was looking for.

I'd rate it a 4. It works for what I wanted. I drive a truck and if I run into a backup I can find out what lane to be in.

Pros: lightweight, 3 power options, 10 weather channels.
Cons: small display, not much volume.

Good Radio, beware of electrical noise.

Review by Jordan Bagwell
Overall Rating
This is a good radio for short-range work with an external antenna. I discovered that it is very sensitive to noise in the power feed circuit, so I installed a dedicated, filtered power feed for the radio and that cleaned up a lot of noise. I used it with decent results around the Tampa Bay area paired with a small magnetic cobra antenna. Then I got home and installed my shiny new Wilson 5000. The level of background noise went from minimal to incredible! I live in an urban area and can only speculate that the Wilson 5000 being a very sensitive antenna, was just loading up with power line noise. I had to turn the squelch up to 3/4 of maximum just to silence the noise... this effectively limited the range of the unit to about a mile which wasn't enough for me.

I went to my local electronics store and picked up a Cobra 19 DX IV Compact CB Radio and hooked it up. Wow! The adjustable RF gain is magic... I'm picking people up 5 miles out easy, getting good traffic info and talking to truckers.

To review my review:

1. I like the radio and the ability to use either the car kit or the battery pack
2. I didn't have good results with a very high gain antenna... it was overpowering the receive circuit with noise. This radio works well with a smaller antenna (imho)
3. The weather channel and scan functions are nice and work well
4. I like the ergonomics of the unit both when attached to the car kit and on the battery packs. I could hit all the buttons with my thumb pretty naturally and changing channels was very easy
5. The volume and clarity of the speaker aren't that great... it'll get loud but it's not very clear at max volume, I would plan on hanging this radio at ear level if purchasing again.
6. I didn't do much testing as a handheld, but what little I did went well so I think it's a good field radio.
7. If you're planning on picking up this radio so you don't have to run any wires, beware. You may have to run wires anyway. This radio picks up lots of ignition noise. The radiator fan in my car was particularly annoying. Installing a power filter and running a dedicated hot/ground to the battery cleaned up most of the noise.
