Great for CBer's

Review by Amiel
Overall Rating
It was easily to install and good tx and rx for CBer's. Only it was too obvious that you have CB radio in your car. I rate it 5.

The K40 Antenna has been around for quite a long time and has proven itself to be a very capable and popular antenna. The K40 has a quick disconnect system which lets you easily remove the top section of the antenna with just a turn of the wrist. You can literally remove this section in three seconds and stow the top section with attached whip. This system is super handy if you park in a garage and want a longer antenna but don't want to bang the antenna every time you park. Attaching the unit to the Magnamount is simple and requires only a couple minutes time. The Magnamount system comes with everything you need, including an adapter piece, and the magnet is very strong - (8 pole, 120 pound pull) so no worries about it accidentally coming off.

The receive on the K40 is excellent and compared to other well known antennas such as Wilson 1000 it definitely holds its own. I found the static level was very low (which is partly due to the antenna design and partly because a trunk mount antenna is farther away from the engine and its electrical noise). In all of my vehicle setups I always try to mount for best performance, but keeping an antenna away from the engine area often helps reduce electrical interference and trunk mount antennas are a great way to go. Transmit is also great with the K40. I was able to talk to multiple people in my area without difficulty and everyone said I sounded great and my signal strength was the same as when I use some of my other high end antennas.

The K40 is a quality, well designed antenna, built in the USA and it does what the manufacturer claims it will do - all things I find quite refreshing in this day and age.

Wonderful Range with this antenna!

I've only had this on my truck for about a week now but it gets attention from everybody because of the Antenna. I do not have my Radio set up just right yet and I do not understand everything yet but I'm getting it. Just yesterday I had a guy ask for a Radio check so I come back with a sounds good and told him where I was on the road at the time. To my surprise he came back saying thanks and told me how far away he was which was about 15 minutes the opposite direction of me. So about 10 miles we talked fine. Then the that same day I was talking to a guy as we passed on the road and I lost signal after 2 curves. So I do not know if it depends on both peoples radio for a good long distance talk but so far its seem to be a good addition. 5 stars.

Worth the Money.

This antenna is well worth the money. Very good signal coming in and going out. The magnet is very strong and will hold it down for sure. Customer service is outstanding too. I was very surprised how durable this is, I back into my garage and forgot to take the antenna off (which is really easy) and I got out and it was bent about 6 inches from the base and thought it was bent for good. When I pulled out and looked at it, it wasn't bent and the base didn't crack. VERY good quality

Best Magnet antenna on the market!

Review by Rob B.
Overall Rating
Hands down, the best mobile antenna next to a stainless steel whip or a monkey made. I have had mine for almost 7 years and it has been on 3 different cars. performs like the day I bought it new. I have had to use tape to cover a few nicks on the coax over the years, but other than that, it has been flawless.

I initially set the SWRs when I bought the unit 7 years ago, and they have gone unchanged since then. Two different radios have been used with this, a Galaxy DX88HL and my current rig, a Galaxy Pluto. The firm magnet has very positive engagement, and will stay on your car at 100 mph with no problems. the wide magnet base provides for a good ground plane, so there is usually no issues with feedback with radios that have echo boards.

The only con about this setup is I wish K40 had included a small locking plastic cap to make the base water tight when the load was not installed. It would not have taken much engineering to make a plastic cap with the same locking key system like the load has.

Well worth the money. Great product and performance. They are rated at 500 watts, so don't go too wild with the foot warmers.

Great Product & Great Service from Right Channel Radios.

I would like to thank you for your quick shipment of my new K-40 Magnetic base antenna. I only use my CB during hunting season. I have had great reception and transmission with my new antenna. I have an older version which is fiberglass and spring loaded which I can easily change if needed with the quarter turn release. I have used K-40 antenna products for the past 25 years. Great product and great service from Right Channel Radios.

Thanks Again For Great Service.

Great Service, Easy to install

Review by Big Bad Wolf

My mom purchased this antenna for me and I installed it on my 02 trailblazer. When she entered the shipping info in she wrote the wrong zip code. RCR was very quick to contact her and correct the mistake. Easiest antenna I have installed yet. No tuning of antenna required which I had to do with the Littlw Wil I had previously.

5 stars for sure

Great Antenna

Review by craig austin

I have used a K40 magnetic base, steel whip for over 30+ years and it to be better in all aspects, especially than the Wilson. The little Wil I have will not go below 3.5 SWR... To reply to an above comment, they do and have always made a plastic cover for the base if you take the whip off (good idea, too easy to steal). Get spares, they get lost easily. It is getting harder to find K40 stuff at truck stops for some reason. Even on the internet it is spotty for getting an intact magnetic base. The K40 manufacturer site is not much help either. The price here is in line with the price I paid for the combination as far back as I can remember so if this outfit is a reliable source, my next base (they do rust internally in time) will come from here.

This is a great antenna....

Review by Aaron So-Cal

I'm currently in the Military and growing up with my dad being a truck driver I have always had one since I was 14. I've always been fond of the Firestiks until recently getting stationed in Southern California where parking a lifted truck is a nightmare! What parking garages I am able to fit it I am constantly having to get out and remove the antenna so its obvious now why the K40 got my attention but now after using it and driving to and from Arkansas with it I couldn't be happier with it. For its signal strength, quick disconnect, even the removable connector on the coax made routing the wire a breeze. I would highly recommend this antenna and Right Channel Radios for recommending it to me, fast friendly technical support and vast knowledge here! (Written 12/16/2011) (Posted on February 21, 2012)

I could not be more satisfied with my new K-40. The SWR is between 0 and 1 throughout the whole range of channels. And I am very well satisfied with the prompt and courteous service I got from the folks at Right Channel Radios. (Posted on October 12, 2012)
