It's better than "ok" but...

I get a squeal with this mic even if it's remotely close to the external speaker I hooked it up to. I tried hooking up an external speaker and strapped it down to my CB so that it will be far enough away from me when I key the mic. Though I still get a squeal sometimes, but not as bad as when the external speaker is mounted in the cab behind my head. So I get feedback when I am keying the mic and the external speaker is too near.

Another drawback is my stock cobra 50th anniversary mic though never had that problem with the mic gain turned all the way up. I have a nice Uniden PC78 Elite which is super rugged which has a digital echo/talkback installed. The Astatic 636L is good but something about it causes feedback if anywhere near an external speaker. (Posted on May 4, 2013)

This is the best value mic for the money I've ever used. And, I have been using many mics over the last 30 years. The noise cancelling quality works well and sounds good. The coily cord is very flexible and not bulky. You can see and feel good old fashioned quality with this mic. This mic sets the standard ! (Posted on July 2, 2012)
